DEFINITION
Bad breath (Halitosis) is the smell that smell when the patient breathed.

Psychogenic halitosis is a belief that one's breath odor, but they are not. This problem can occur in people who tend to exaggerate the normal body sensations. Sometimes a psychogenic halitosis is caused by a serious mental disorder, like schizophrenia. A person with obsessive thoughts that may have an exaggerated feeling dirty. CAUSE
Usually bad breath is caused by certain foods or substances that have been ingested or inhaled, or by fermentation of food in parts of the mouth. Bad breath can also be a symptom of certain diseases that affect the whole body, such as heart disease, diabetes (diabetes) that are not controlled, or diseases of the lungs or the mouth.

Bad breath is usually not caused by problems in the gut. Except during swallowing, esophagus valve at the mouth of the stomach is closed, so the smell of the stomach or the lower digestive system, will not reach the mouth. But there is a tumor of the esophagus or stomach which causes foul-smelling liquids or gases, having regurgitation into the mouth.

TREATMENT
Physical cause can be corrected or removed. For example, one could stop eating garlic or improve oral hygiene. Many fragrance mouth and mouth sprays that can be used, it is best that contain chlorophyll. Or it could also menggunakaan activated charcoal that will absorb odors.

Doctors can help convince people with psychogenic halitosis, that their breath does not smell. If the problem continues, it may take the help of a prikoterapis.
